Our bodies aren't designed to be beautiful.
They are designed to keep us safe.
To help us survive the world around us.
To be our literal home.
They are designed to keep us alive for as long as possible and they can overcome extraordinary things. The complex chemical stuff going on
in each of us right now just to keep us alive is insane.
Despite this, we are taught that beauty is more important than anything else. We are taught that if we are beautiful then nothing else
matters.
But what is beauty without health?
What is beauty without the ability to literally LIVE?
The fact that we throw our body a heap of hate because it doesn't look the way we want it to is crazy. Sometimes, if we actually achieved
the 'perfect' body that we crave, it would mean that our health would take a massive hit.
And I don't know about you, but I don't think beauty is ever worth sacrificing our health for.
So, let's change this story. Let's forget about 'body goals' and instead fill ourselves with appreciation, love, and gratitude for a body
that is our biggest teammate in life.
Let's decide to thank our body for its incredible work. Let's decide to love and celebrate it instead.
Here are some ways to do that...
If you're struggling with body love right now, then the mirror probably isn't your best friend. It's time for that to change.
Next time you're in front of the mirror, it's your job to pick out 3 things you love about your body.
For example...
I love my strong legs.
I love my cute curvey hips.
I love my glowy skin.
If a negative thought enters your body, combat it with a positive one straight away.
For example...
I'm not fat, I'm a curvy beautiful goddess who lifts the energy of those around me.
There's nothing more satisfying than finishing a workout. We all need to move our bodies for our overall health but don't feel like there's only one way to exercise. The trick is finding an exercise that you want to do because you love it- NOT because you feel like you have to.
For example...
If you currently run on a treadmill and hate every minute, why not ditch that and try something else instead? Perhaps a yoga or pilates class, boot camp or even a sports team could be more your jam? Change the reason you exercise from a punishing chore to something you can look forward to and chances are you'll find yourself enjoying it a whole lot more and your body will definitely thank you for it.
Have you ever tried a dance class?
Although they can be a bit intimidating, there's literally nothing more empowering than dancing to music and feeling like you're absolutely owning it.
Find a studio in your area that welcomes beginners and give it a go - you won't regret it! You might even find yourself a new passion!
Find your inner Beyonce girl.
This is an oldie, but a goodie!
Baths are literally the best and are a great way to relax and reward your body. Why not grab a box of chocolates and read a book while
you're at it!?
This might sound a bit crazy, but having a photoshoot can be a great way to celebrate your body. Find a photographer that you love in your local area and go out and get a few shots taken.
This might just show you how beautiful you really are and give you some appreciation for the incredibly body that you have.
