How to create a beautiful Instagram feed

Creating a beautiful insta feed seems really easy but it just... really isn't.

Understanding how to create a beautiful feed is hard by itself but then there's actually getting the photos and maintaining it all! It is a serious mission!

We get you - and we also get that having a feed that looks pretty is important - especially if you're wanting to get into the influencing game.

Don't stress babe, we've got you covered and have done the hard work for you and have found a few tricks to help you achieve a truly stunning insta feed.

Okay, first things first - Set yourself up for success

It's going to be almost impossible for you to know what your insta feed is going to look like without a bit of forward planning.

And no, that doesn't mean that you need to print out all of your upcoming photos and create a collage on your bedroom wall.

Luckily, there are some pretty awesome planning apps out there that will help you out.

We love Planoly, Later, and Plann - and the best part? Most of them have a free version that you can use!

So once you've got a planning app, upload a few photos that you're planning on posting to your feed in the future and move them around to have a look at what they look like.

Next up, have a look at your current feed

No matter if you're just wanting to clean up your current feed or wanting to do a complete restart it's a good idea to have a look at the images you've posted in the past to get an idea of the colours you commonly use and the themes you tend to work with.

For example - you might see a heap of greens and blues in your current photos and not a lot of reds. If this is the case it would be a good idea to base your colour palette (we will talk about this a bit more in a second) on greens and blues and NOT reds!

By choosing colours that already feature quite a lot in your images, it is going to be a lot easier for you to stick to your theme in the long run!

Now it's time to create your colour palette

Ok time for the fun stuff! Next up it's time to create your colour palette!

Your Instagram colour palette should have about 3-4 colours that you are going to feature heavily. We would recommend including something neutral like white/black/cream as one of the colours as this is an excellent filler.

As we've already talked about, it's a good idea to keep in mind the colours that you already use when creating your palette and think about including these.

We've hunted down some examples of profiles that have absolutely nailed their feeds and colour palettes to get you feeling inspired...

CGM Warrior Indi has a beautiful combo of whites, creams, greens and oranges in her feed.

Our very own Rani is an absolute boss when it comes to Instagram. She features yellows, dusky pinks, cool blues and whites on her feed.

CGM Warrior Shika has created a beautiful feed using blues, oranges, whites and dark greens.

And decide on your filter...

You'll notice many of the great insta feeds have a consister filter used across all of their photos. This creates a sense of unity to the feed and can really pull it all together so we would recommend having a think about whether you'd like to use a filter for your feed.

Get your photos ready and plan them out

Firstly, have a look through your existing images and do a cull of any that (as a general rule) don't feature at least 3 of the 4 colours that are in your palette. Then, once you've done that, you may need to go out and take some photos so that you can start planning your feed!

And don't worry, even if you don't have access to an incredible styling team for every shot you take, you can still take amazing images yourself (just like the 3 profiles we showed you earlier).

We would recommend having around 9 images ready to go so that you can play around and plan them out properly.

When you're out and about, always keep an eye out for your palette colours and when you see one, make sure you snap a shot! This way you'll always have heaps of images to choose from!

Another cool way to get content for your feed is to challenge yourself to take photos that heavily feature just 1 colour from your palette. Just like our girl Zasha who shot for Scorpio Jin Magazine recently (how beautiful are the pinks!) you can create some beautiful shots using just 1 colour and bring your feed together at the same time!

Once you've got all of your images ready to go, the next thing you need to do is plan them out in one of the Instagram planning apps. Drag the images around until you're happy with the design and then you can start posting them!

Go get it Insta sister!
